Total Salary Package: $98,345 - $153,535 (plus 15.4% Super)

The Role ASD is seeking to recruit and develop a diverse workforce who are curious, imaginative and enjoy problem solving. These skills allow us to out-think and out-imagine some of the most testing adversaries and problems imaginable. You will play a crucial role in ensuring ASD’s vulnerability research capabilities are fit-for-purpose and responsive to sensitive and time-critical mission requirements.
As an ASD 6 Vulnerability Researcher/Software Exploitation Specialist You will be leading complex tasks and responsible for delivering outcomes with limited direction. We are looking for people who:
- Have technical expertise in, or directly applicable to, vulnerability research and/or software exploitation
- Can operate with limited direction and show initiative to achieve outcomes, drawing on relevant technical skills and experience
- Have experience supporting the development of colleagues and mentoring junior staff

About our Team ASD’s Vulnerability Research Team conducts vulnerability research and develops proof-of-concept exploits related to computer network security. The Team researches capabilities to prevent network exploitation and deliver network effects.
Our technical specialists are responsible for grappling with complex and unusual problems to protect Australia and its national interests. In a strong team environment, you will work alongside other talented technical experts supported by technical and non-technical leadership. We are looking for Vulnerability Researchers and Software Exploitation Specialists who: - Are driven to analyse, build, break or rebuild software and systems to really know their inner workings

- Drive concepts and build them into workable and appropriate solutions to meet mission requirements
- Can carry out complex tasks or projects involving research and analysis
- Have the ability and drive to learn new technologies, languages and methodologies
- Have a sound level of problem solving ability and can exercise appropriate judgement
- Can work in a team setting, and build and maintain relationships through collaboration with other specialists within ASD, partner agencies and trusted industry suppliers
- Can manage their own time well with the ability to look at alternate ways to streamline and improve processes and procedures.
